I am a freelance translator for German and English, having passed the state approved examination for translators at the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1979. I am a member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDUE) and regularly update my knowledge.
My job experience includes some 20 years of employment in an English speaking environment – four years in Scotland and a further 17 years with the British Army in Germany. As their civilian medical translator / clerk, I liaised between my British medical colleagues and the local German hospitals and translated German medical reports into English.
I am completely familiar with both German and English, and it goes without saying that I am fully conversant with the medical terminology of both languages, too.
In previous employments I also gained valuable experience translating press releases, brochures and technical descriptions.
